Senate To Akpoti: Hold It, Your Suspension Still Pending In Court

Abuja; FCT- Nigeria – The National Assembly has blocked Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to office despite serving out her six-month suspension.
The development was sequel to notification by Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central of her intention to resume her duties.
Consequently, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, responded that her suspension is still a pending issue in court.
The letter signed by Yahaya Danzaria stated that the matter remains subjudice and that no administrative action can be taken until the judicial process is completed and the Senate reviews the court’s pronouncement.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had previously attempted to resume on July 12 following a Federal High Court judgment asking the Senate to review her suspension, but she was denied access to the National Assembly.
According to her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to return to the Senate on September 23, after her vacation in London.
Giwa assured that there would be no obstacles to her return, stating, “Everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption.”
