Police Probe Death of Senior Citizen After Hotel Check-In With Young Woman

KANO — The Jigawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man who died shortly after checking into a hotel in Dutse with a young woman.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, when the deceased, accompanied by a 20-year-old woman, reportedly developed breathing difficulties moments after requesting food, police said.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said officers responded promptly and evacuated the man to the Dutse General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
“The victim was immediately rushed to the Dutse General Hospital for treatment but was certified dead by medical personnel,” Shiisu said.
He disclosed that detectives who searched the hotel room recovered food items, beverages, the deceased’s personal belongings and a substance suspected to be an aphrodisiac, all of which have been documented as part of the ongoing investigation.
Shiisu said the deceased’s body had been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites, while the 20-year-old woman is cooperating with investigators to help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police spokesman urged the public to refrain from speculation or circulating unverified claims, stressing that the command remained committed to a thorough and professional investigation.
“We appeal to members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unconfirmed information while investigations are ongoing. The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course,” he said.
