Nakudu, Ringim Signal Grassroots Push in First Joint Public Appearance

KANO — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, CON, and his running mate, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, have taken their first coordinated political steps together, using a series of condolence and sympathy visits to signal the beginning of what the party describes as a grassroots-driven campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement by the Director of Media, Sabo Nakudu Campaign Office, Mati Ali that was made available to newsmen in Kano, explained that it was a marked departure from the conventional fanfare that often accompanies the unveiling of governorship tickets.
The statement noted that the Nakudu-Ringim team opted for a quiet but symbolic outreach, visiting bereaved families and sympathising with an ailing party stalwart in Dutse Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the delegation first visited an elder of the ADC, Alhaji Uba Maranjuwa, to condole with him over the death of his brother before proceeding to the residence of Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Jahun, where they prayed for his quick recovery from a recent illness.
The team later travelled to Chaichai town to commiserate with the family of the late Ibrahim Baba Chaichai over the loss of his brother, offering prayers for the deceased and words of comfort to the bereaved family.
Matti Ali in the statement described the outing “as more than a routine condolence visit”, saying it marked the first coordinated public engagement by the ADC governorship ticket since Ringim’s nomination and reflected the party’s determination to build its campaign from the grassroots.
The statement stressed that “the decision to begin with humanitarian and community-focused engagements underscores the ticket’s emphasis on empathy, accessibility and strengthening relationships with local communities before the commencement of full-scale political campaigns.”
He stressed that “The day’s engagements did not end in Dutse. Upon his return to Ringim, the deputy governorship candidate was received by a stream of party leaders, supporters, political associates and well-wishers, who thronged his residence to congratulate him on his emergence as Senator Nakudu’s running mate.”
Ali maintained that “The growing show of support also resonated within the ADC, where stakeholders expressed optimism over the prospects of the governorship ticket in the 2027 election.”
They described the Nakudu-Ringim alliance as a blend of political experience, grassroots acceptability and regional balance, expressing confidence that the ticket possesses the capacity to mount a formidable challenge for the Jigawa Government House.
The stakeholders further stressed that sustained grassroots mobilisation, strategic voter engagement and continued unity within the party would be critical to translating the early momentum into electoral success.
