KEDCO MD Declares Safety Top Priority, Rolls Out PPE for Frontline Staff

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Managing Director, Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO), Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to making workplace safety its foremost priority with the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontline personnel across its operational areas.

In a statement signed by KEDCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Sani Bala Sani, explained that Dr. Jimeta while flagging off the distribution exercise said the initiative underscores KEDCO’s resolve to strengthen its health and safety culture.

“The safety of our esteemed staff and customers remains one of the Company’s topmost priorities. Every member of staff deserves to return home safely after work, and this can only be achieved by following safety rules at all times,” Jimeta said.

The KEDCO chief directed that no employee should undertake any official assignment without wearing the appropriate protective equipment, warning staff against taking shortcuts that could expose them to unnecessary risks.

He said safety boots, helmets, reflective jackets, hand gloves and other protective gear are indispensable for protecting field personnel while carrying out their responsibilities, urging employees to make compliance with safety procedures a daily habit.

According to him, protecting lives is a shared responsibility, stressing that every employee has a role to play in maintaining a safe workplace through strict adherence to the company’s safety guidelines.

Jimeta described the PPE distribution as part of KEDCO’s sustained efforts to strengthen workplace safety and ensure frontline workers are adequately equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to entrenching a robust safety culture across its operations, declaring that “every life matters” and that the wellbeing of staff and customers will remain at the heart of KEDCO’s operations.
