KIRS To Upgrade Digital Services for Taxpayers’ Convenience

KANO – Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) plans to fast-track its Digital channels for seamless Taxpayers’ experience regardless of literacy or location.
A Communique issued by the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) In Collaboration with the Partnership for Agile Governance & Climate Engagement (PACE) at the end of two days workshop for stakeholders noted that Al-powered chatbot will be deployed in both English and Hausa languages for taxpayer’s convinience.
The Communique stated that “KIRS, in conjunction with the Kano State Government, will enhance efforts to visibly link tax revenue to public goods through a “Tax-for- Service” campaign, showcasing executed projects to build public trust. “
It noted that Citizens and organized groups pledge to fulfill their tax obligations, recognizing it as a civic duty fundamental to state development.
Other key resolutions and commitments contained in the Communique includes the “Inclusion of Traditional Institutions, particularly Ward Heads, into the tax administration framework will he explored and piloted to leverage their grassroots intelligence and enhance compliance.”
“The Harmonisation policy will be implemented with utmost transparency, ensuring timely remittance of collected revenues to Local Government Areas as stipulated in the MoU, thereby strengthening the state-local government fiscal relationship.”
The Communique further noted that “the State Ministry of Local Government Affairs will be formally incorporated into the ongoing reform architecture to ensure full alignment and effective implementation.”
It added that “Stakeholders commit to actively adopting the digital platforms and participating in training to ensure a smooth transition from manual processes. “.
