Jigawa Govt Waives Off Over N112M Debt For 336 Flood Victims

KANO (Kano, North West Nigeria) – Jigawa state government on Tuesday announced cancellation of One Hundred and Twelve Million, Fifteen Thousand, Nine Hundred Naira (N112,015,900.00) for 336 flood victims.
Sagir Musa Ahmed, the state Commissioner Information, Youth, Sport and Culture in a major highlights of the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday said the affect individuals are those enrolled in the Jigawa State Rice Millionaire Project.
Sagir Musa Ahmed stated that “The primary goal of the Rice Millionaire Project is to uplift young farmers and empower them through access to agricultural resources, training, and financial support.
He explained that “This waiver serves as part of a broader commitment of His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA administration effort to improve agricultural productivity and economic stability in the state.”
The Commissioner further disclosed that the Council, similarly approved extending repayment period of the cost of solar pumps and panels to span two additional seasons beginning from current wheat growing season.
In the meantime, Jigawa state government has approved the review of Jigawa State Environmental Policy and Amendment of Wild Animals Laws, Bush Burning Law, Compulsory Monthly Sanitation Exercise Law and Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) Law.
Sagir Musa Ahmed said that the Council approval was part of Umar Namadi led administration’s dedication to implementing policies and initiatives that would address critical environmental challenges.
He disclosed that the Council has approved the report of the Committee on Safety of Schools, Health Institutions and Courts across the State.
The Commissioner said the reports paved way for the state government to engage 9,972 indigenous youths across the state as private security guards to man public Institutions in their communities.
He stressed that the measures were in tandem with the proposed utilization of preventive strategies for maximum security at all primary and secondary schools (both day and boarding), High Courts/Magistrate/Shari’a Courts, Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and General Hospitals across the State.
