Ganduje Saddened By Kanti Kwari Fire Incident, Calls For Support To Victims

KANO – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed shock and sadness over the fire incident that ravaged several shops at the Kanti Kwari textile market in Kano State.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, that was made available to newsmen in Kano, Dr. Ganduje conveyed his deep sorrow, describing the destruction of the largest textile market in Sub-Saharan Africa as a significant loss.
“As a former governor of Kano State, I understand the immense importance of this market to the state’s economy and cultural heritage. The Kano Textile Market has been a beacon of commerce and innovation, attracting traders and customers from across the continent. Its destruction is a loss not only for the people of Kano but for the entire Sub-Saharan Africa,” the statement read.
The National Chairman extended his heartfelt sympathy to the traders, artisans, and their families who have suffered losses, noting that the market has always been a symbol of Kano’s resilience and prosperity.
He emphasized the importance of rebuilding, not only for economic recovery but also to preserve the cultural heritage of Kano.
Ganduje commended the bravery and swift response of the emergency services and firefighters who worked tirelessly to contain the inferno, stressing that their efforts helped mitigate further damage and potential loss of life.
The statement further called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to rally around the victims, providing them with the necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives.
Dr. Ganduje reaffirmed his belief in the strength and determination of the people of Kano, expressing confidence that the Kano Textile Market will be restored to its former glory as a vibrant hub of commerce and culture.
