Kwankwaso: Tinubu’s Multi-Trillion Naira Infrastructure Drive Undermines Opposition Criticism

KANO — The Forum of Federal Government Appointees from Kano State, midweek said the scale of President Tinubu’s infrastructure investments across Northern Nigeria has effectively weakened the opposition’s criticism of the administration.
The Forum insisted that tangible development projects have become the government’s strongest campaign message ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the forum’s spokesperson, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, argued that opposition leaders have continued to attack the Federal Government without presenting a credible alternative development agenda.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is executing a massive portfolio of infrastructure and developmental projects across Kano and Northern Nigeria worth trillions of naira. These are projects Nigerians can see and touch, not mere political rhetoric,” Kwankwaso said.
Kwankwaso, who also serves as Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, maintained that the administration’s performance has shifted public discourse from political accusations to measurable development outcomes.
According to him, more than 30 federal projects are either ongoing or completed in Kano under the Renewed Hope Agenda, reflecting what he described as the President’s commitment to transforming the state’s infrastructure and economic landscape.
He identified key projects to include the Kano-Kongolam Road dualisation, the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, the Kano Eastern Bypass, the Kano-Maradi Rail Line and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, describing them as strategic investments designed to improve regional connectivity, trade and economic growth.
Kwankwaso also listed the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, the N47 billion Jakara-Gogau-Zungeru drainage project, rehabilitation of major dams and irrigation facilities, healthcare interventions and the revitalisation of primary health centres among the Federal Government’s landmark initiatives in the North.
He further cited the launch of the Energise Commercialisation Now (ECoN) initiative in Kano by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as well as the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission, as additional evidence of the administration’s focus on economic empowerment and regional development.
“These projects are not promises on paper. They are visible, verifiable and impactful. That is why the opposition has found it increasingly difficult to convince Nigerians that this administration has not delivered,” he stated.
The forum’s spokesperson challenged opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, to present concrete policy alternatives capable of matching the administration’s infrastructure agenda rather than relying on sustained criticism.
He also dismissed reports of an emerging opposition coalition involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing the arrangement as politically unsustainable and lacking the nationwide support required to unseat the ruling party.
“Politics should be about performance and ideas. Nigerians will ultimately judge leaders by the projects they execute and the impact they make on the lives of citizens,” he added.
Kwankwaso disclosed that the forum, under the leadership of Senator Bashir Garba Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, has intensified mobilisation efforts to secure President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
He added that the group would also work for the electoral success of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Senators Barau I. Jibrin, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila and Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside candidates contesting seats in the National Assembly and the Kano State House of Assembly.
