Sanusi II Resumes Academic Journey with Law Studies

KANO – Northwest University, Kano, has granted special admission to the 16th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, into its Faculty of Law.
Sanusi II served as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and recently completed a PhD programme at a university in London.
He also possesses numerous academic and professional credentials in fields such as economics, Islamic finance and public policy.
An official statement released by the Kano owned university that signed by the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records (DEAR), Jafaru Sule Muhammad, on behalf of the Registrar, Isyaku Adamu, said the offer remains provisional, noting that it is dependent on strict adherence to the institution’s regulations.
Dated January 12, 2026, the admission letter was formally addressed to the Emir at his palace, Gidan Rumfa, in Kano, stressed that “The admission is subject to your compliance with the rules and regulations contained in the Northwest University Student Handbook”.
The statement confirmed that Sanusi has been admitted into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common Law and Shariah at the 200 level, beginning from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The university management congratulated the Emir on his admission and instructed him to commence the necessary registration procedures with the appropriate university units.
These include the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions and Records, the ICT Unit, the Bursary Department, the relevant Faculty or Department, the University Library and the Student Affairs Division.
