Gwarzo Emerges Kano NDC Governorship Flagbearer

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has announced the emergence of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the Kano NDC gubernatorial candidate ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Kwankwaso made the announcement in a statement released on Friday, saying the decision followed consultations within the movement and party leadership.

He also disclosed that Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna would contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the party.

According to Kwankwaso, the selection process was guided by “equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence,” which he described as the core principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

“I am delighted to announce that His Excellency, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has been selected as our Kano NDC gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming elections,” Kwankwaso stated.

He added that the choices reflected the movement’s commitment to unity and continuity ahead of the polls.

“As we proceed with today’s affirmation exercise, I pray for a seamless, peaceful, and successful process,” the former governor said.

Kwankwaso further prayed for victory for the party and its candidates, expressing confidence that the movement would remain united as preparations for the elections intensify.

Gwarzo brings to the contest decades of public service and political experience.

He previously served as Deputy Governor of Kano State and was elected twice as a local government chairman.

He also held commissioner positions in four different ministries in Kano State, where he contributed to policy formulation and implementation across key sectors.

In addition, Gwarzo served as a member of the National Assembly Service Commission and as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Education, Kontagora.

His extensive record in public administration and grassroots leadership has earned him recognition as one of Kano’s most experienced political figures.

His emergence as the NDC governorship candidate is expected to bolster the party’s campaign efforts and strengthen its position ahead of the elections.
