KANO (Kano,North West Nigeria) – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo met with ex-Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke to discuss pressing national issues weekend.
Although the details of their conversation remain undisclosed, sources close to the matter suggest that the meeting was part of a broader effort to strategize for the 2027 elections.
Obasanjo, known for his influential role in Nigerian politics, has been engaging with various stakeholders to explore alternatives to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The meeting with Kwankwaso and Duke is seen as a significant development in this regard.
Kwankwaso, a key figure in Kano State politics, brings his significant influence and following to the table. Duke, on the other hand, offers a unique perspective as a former governor from the southern part of the country.
While the specifics of the meeting remain under wraps, it is clear that Obasanjo and his associates are working towards a common goal of challenging the status quo in Nigerian politics.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who served Chief Aremu Obasanjo as Defence Minister in a message posted on his verified Facebook timeline confirmed they met with the former Nigeria number one citizen at his Abeokuta residence
In Kwankwaso’s words “I was pleased to be in company of my friend, HE Donald Duke and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.”
The strongman of Kano politics said “Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.”
He noted with joy, “We are grateful to Baba for his warm support and hospitality.”
