Northern Governors to Unveil Regional Stance on Tax Reform
By Muhammad Aminu Dutse
DUTSE (Jigawa state, North West Nigeria) -The 19 Northern Governors have announced plans to present a unified stance on the contentious Tax Reform issue.
This development comes amidst ongoing debates on the proposed tax reform bills, which have sparked intense discussions across the country.
Finenews Nigeria report that the Tax Reform issue has generated significant controversy, with various groups and stakeholders expressing divergent views.
However, the Northern Governors’ decision to present a unified stance is expected to add a new dimension to the ongoing debate.
Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Muhammad Abubakar Luggerewo in an address at a four-day retreat organized for Gombe State legislators and principal officers, assured that the northern governors would present a stance that favors the people in the region.
Luggerewo acknowledged that the issue is contentious, but expressed confidence that the northern governors would present a unified front.
The retreat, themed “Technology Adoption for Democracy Development,” aimed to promote the use of Information Technology (IT) to enhance legislative efficiency.
Mr. Luggerewo emphasized the importance of leveraging IT to strengthen legislative duties, promote democracy, and ensure efficient public service delivery.
Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, commended the Gombe Assembly for promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Namadi noted that digital adoption would simplify the legislative process, paving the way for passing bills and enacting laws that enhance security, social, and economic wellbeing.
