Kano Eyes Improved Healthcare Delivery Through Hospital Upgrade Initiative

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has commenced assessment visits to selected healthcare facilities as part of efforts to upgrade them into standard General Hospitals.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, led directors of the agency on an official inspection tour to Warawa Primary Healthcare Facility and Gwagwarwa Primary Healthcare Facility to evaluate their readiness for conversion.

According to a statement signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, the visit was part of the present administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare services for residents.

The statement noted that the assessment team conducted a comprehensive inspection of the facilities to identify infrastructure gaps, medical equipment needs, and other critical requirements necessary for upgrading the centres into fully functional General Hospitals.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Nagoda said the Board remained committed to supporting the healthcare vision of the Kano State Government through strategic interventions that would improve medical services across the state.

“We are here to carefully assess the facilities and determine the areas that require intervention to meet the standards of General Hospitals capable of delivering quality healthcare services,” he said.

He further disclosed that the team would prepare a detailed report containing its findings and recommendations for submission to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, for necessary approvals and implementation.

Dr. Nagoda also commended the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritizing the health sector through infrastructural development and people-oriented healthcare policies designed to improve the wellbeing of citizens across Kano State.
