KANO — The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Kano State, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, on Wednesday intercepted a suspicious commercial tricycle and handed its driver over to the police.
The incident occurred at Dangi Roundabout while the Attorney General was returning from an official court inspection exercise, according to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant, Dr. Abubakar Tijjani Ibrahim.
The statement said Maude became suspicious after observing a commercial tricycle conveying six passengers whose appearance and conduct raised concerns.
He subsequently directed his security aides to stop the vehicle for verification.
“Following preliminary questioning at the scene, the Attorney General directed that the tricycle and its driver be taken to the Hausawa Police Division, Filin Hockey, for further investigation by the appropriate law enforcement authorities,” the statement said.
To ensure proper handling of the matter, Maude personally accompanied the team to the police station, where he formally handed over the tricycle and its driver to the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) for further investigation and necessary action.
The Attorney General reiterated the Kano State Government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in protecting lives and property across the state.
“Government remains committed to supporting security agencies in safeguarding lives and property while upholding the principles of due process and the rule of law,” Maude was quoted as saying.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
The police are expected to continue investigations into the matter.
