KANO (Kano, North West Nigeria) – In a heartwarming display of compassion and commitment to justice, the Jigawa State Government has taken up the medical bill of Khadijah Isa, an 11-year-old rape survivor.
This move was announced by the First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, during a visit to Khadijah’s hospital bed at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Khadijah has been bedridden due to severe injuries sustained during the assault, which have left her private part connected to her anus.
The First Lady, accompanied by top government officials and civil rights lawyers, was guided by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director.
Mrs. Hadiza Umar Namadi emphasized that rape is an inhumane act that must be condemned by all, and that society must come together to support survivors like Khadijah.
She also revealed that the 36-year-old suspect has been apprehended and charged to court.
The Jigawa State Government therefore assured that it would not rest until justice is served, demonstrating its commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of its citizens, particularly vulnerable individuals.
