Gov.Yusuf’s Aide Slashed by Hoodlums, Survives

KANO — Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf’s aide, Gamboliya Ja’en, on Wednesday survived a brutal machete attack after he was ambushed by suspected hoodlums in Kano metropolis.
Gamboliya Ja’en, who serves as Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media Affairs, was attacked in Ja’en area, behind Katakore, near Big Trust, while returning from purchasing Sallah items for children.
The attack comes months after a similar incident in August 2025, when Sadiq Gentle, a senior official in the Ministry of History and Culture, was killed by hoodlums in a similar dastardly attack.
Recounting his ordeal to a local news platform, Gamboliya Ja’en said the assailants descended on him without warning, striking him repeatedly with machetes.
Ja’en explained that the attackers came from multiple directions, leaving him overwhelmed during the bloody encounter.
“I suddenly felt them attacking me from all sides, and after that, I couldn’t remember what happened,” he said, describing the severity of the assault.
He was subsequently rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Sources at the facility confirmed that he sustained multiple cuts but is responding to treatment.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was said to have intervened promptly after the incident, ensuring that his aide received urgent medical attention.
Security sources confirmed that l operatives of the Sharada Police Division have commenced an investigation into the attack.
Gamboliya Ja’en acknowledged their efforts, noting that the officers acted swiftly in response to the situation.
As at press time, the Public Relations Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Kano is yet to respond to the development.
