KANO (Kano, North West Nigeria) – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, will tomorrow flag off the third phase of pension payments worth N5 billion to alleviate the suffering of retirees caused by the immediate past administration.
Since assuming office, the present administration has settled N11 billion out of the unpaid backlog of N43 billion in outstanding pension benefits through two phases.
In a statement issued  by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, it was revealed that the flag-off of the payment would take place at the Kano Government House.
The statement noted that, during the first phase, Governor Yusuf allocated N6 billion to the state Pension Trust Fund to pay retirees below Grade Level 10.
In the second phase, another N5 billion was released to the agency for disbursement to pensioners who served the state for 35 years.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the outstanding benefits of retirees are fully settled, promising that each retiree will receive their dues in a timely manner.
The initiative is part of fullfilment of campaign promises of the Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
