Gov. Yusuf Reappoints Sagagi, ex Chief of Staff Secretary Shura Council

KANO (Kano, North West Nigeria) – Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday night reappointed his erstwhile Chief of staff, Wada Sagagi as Secretary of the 46 members Shura Council.
The appointment came barely 8 hours, the influential top aide was sacked, and his office scrapped in a major cabinet shake up that saw the exit of Dr. Bappa Bichi as SSG, and 5 Commissioners on Thursday.
Shura Council (Majlis al-Shura) is a consultative Assembly or council that advises the leader or ruler on important decisions. The concept of Shura is rooted in the Quran and the Sunnah (the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad SAW).
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, that was obtained by finenewsnigeria, explained that “the Council is tasked with providing expert advice to the government on critical socio-economic and religious matters”.
Mr. Dawakin-Tofa stated that “the council will be chaired by Professor Shehu Galadanci, with Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddeen serving as Vice Chairman. Other high-profile appointees include Sheikh Abdulwahhab Abdallah, Sheikh Karibullah Nasiru Kabara, Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, and Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi.”
The governor’s Spokesman listed other prominent members of the Shura Council to include, “Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, Professor Salisu Shehu, Dr. Muhammad Borodo, and Khalifa Hassan Kafinga, among others. The council’s Secretary and Head of Secretariat, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, will oversee its operations to ensure efficiency and smooth coordination.”
He revealed that “This initiative, aimed at fostering collaboration between the government and diverse stakeholders, reflects Governor Yusuf’s commitment to inclusive governance and respect for Kano’s cultural and religious institutions.”
While congratulating the leader and members of the state Shura council, the governor expressed confidence in the qualifications, integrity, and commitment of the appointees to deliver on their mandates effectively.
