By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —- A fatal road crash involving a cattle-laden truck has been reported in Wudil, 28km near Kano from the eastern flank amid fears of possible loss of lives and livestock.

Eyewitness said the incident occurred as the vehicle was reportedly en route to Lagos State after loading cattle from the Wudil cattle market.

The truck was said to have lost control while attempting to negotiate a bend along the busy highway, resulting in the crash.

The accident has triggered panic among residents and passersby who rushed to the scene to offer assistance.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that both human passengers and animals on board were affected by the crash.

However, the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

An eyewitness, Saidu Abdullahi Dare, confirmed that the incident happened on Saturday, April 18, 2026, shortly after the truck departed from the cattle market.

Emergency response efforts were reportedly underway at the scene, with locals and passersby assisting in rescue operations before the arrival of relevant authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from security agencies or emergency management authorities regarding the number of deaths, injuries, or livestock losses recorded in the accident.

However, Authorities are expected to carry out a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash, including possible mechanical failure or driver error, while efforts continue to account for victims.
