Sanusi Bature Announces Political Memoir “Beyond the Statements”

….Says Political Relationships are Rarely Permanent

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kano State, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, has announced plans to publish a political memoir titled “Beyond the Statements,” promising to shed light on key moments and behind-the-scenes developments in the state’s political history.

Dawakin Tofa disclosed this via his verified Facebook page while reflecting on his involvement in the struggles surrounding the Kwankwasiyya Movement, a political bloc associated with former Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Mr. Dawakin Tofa explained that the forthcoming book will provide a detailed account of events that shaped political alignments in Kano over the years, including internal disagreements, reconciliations, and the role played by key actors in defending the movement during difficult periods.

Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa recalled that he, alongside political figures such as Yusuf Sharada and Kabiru Dakata, were among those who actively defended the movement both publicly and privately during times of political confrontation.

Dawakin Tofa also claimed that he was arrested and detained in 2015 during the height of political tensions, even before the disagreements within the political space became widely known to the public.

He further reflected on shifting alliances in politics, noting that political relationships are rarely permanent and that individuals often make strategic decisions based on circumstances prevailing at particular moments.

The media aide also stated that past political interactions involving figures such as Rufa’i Sani Hanga, describing how meetings and consultations held at Miller Road in Kano played roles in shaping political realignments after certain elections.

Dawakin Tofa said the memoir, “Beyond the Statements,” will aim to present a fair account of events and provide readers with deeper insight into the political dynamics that have influenced leadership and governance in Kano, including developments surrounding the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
