Police Heightens Surveillance to Prevent Disorder in Kano

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —- Security agencies in Kano State have heightened surveillance across the state to prevent any potential breach of peace following the circulation of inflammatory messages capable of inciting public disorder.

Cp Ibrahim Adamu Bakori said the measure became necessary after security operatives intercepted audio and video clips containing statements considered capable of creating tension and fear among residents.

Briefing newsmen in Kano the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed that a suspect linked to the circulation of the materials had been arrested during a sting operation and was currently undergoing interrogation.

Cp Bakori stated that the police view the development seriously and have commenced a full investigation to determine the extent of the alleged incitement and those possibly involved in spreading the content.

The police boss warned that individuals found responsible for creating or sharing messages capable of disrupting public peace would face the full weight of the law after investigations are concluded.

Bakori also revealed that security agencies in the state were working in collaboration to monitor the situation closely and respond swiftly to any emerging threats to public safety.

He assured residents that adequate security arrangements had been put in place across the state and urged members of the public not to panic, stressing that Kano remained safe and under control.

The police command further appealed to community leaders, religious authorities, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence and encourage residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
