KANO –  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has drawn widespread public admiration following a touching encounter with a young boy whose prayer for him was captured in a short viral video.
The moment, which unfolded on a street in Kano city, has been praised as a rare display of humility and human connection by a public office holder.
In the short video, the governor was passing through a residential area when he heard the voice of a small boy offering prayers for him.
The child was heard saying, “Abba, may Allah not give your enemies power over you,” a supplication that quickly caught the governor’s attention.
Moved by the sincerity of the prayer, Governor Yusuf stopped and turned toward the direction of the voice. He appeared surprised and emotionally touched as he tried to locate the young boy among the onlookers in the area.
The child was later seen standing on a raised platform at the entrance of a nearby house. Upon spotting him, the governor beckoned the boy to come down, drawing the attention of residents and aides who witnessed the moment.
After the boy came down, Governor Yusuf reached out and shook his hand warmly. The two exchanged greetings in a respectful manner, a gesture that further endeared the governor to those present at the scene.
Netizens described the interaction as simple yet powerful, as they agreed that it reflected the strong bond between the governor and ordinary citizens, particularly children.
For many Kano residents, the incident goes beyond a viral clip, serving as a reminder of the importance of compassionate leadership.
