2027: Stakeholders Close Ranks, Hand Kofa Fifth-Term Ticket

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —– Political stakeholders in Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, on Tuesday morning reached a unified decision to back Abdulmumin Jibril Kofa for a fifth term in the House of Representatives.

The endorsement followed a series of consultations involving party leaders, community influencers, and grassroots mobilizers across both local government areas.

The stakeholders who engaged Reporters at the wee hours of Tuesday explained that the move reflects a calculated effort to avoid internal divisions and present a single candidate going into the next electoral cycle.

Announcing the decision, chairman of the stakeholders’ forum, Ahmad Ali Yako, said the consensus was driven by Kofa’s record in office and his long-standing relationship with constituents.

“We arrived at this decision after careful deliberation. Hon. Kofa has demonstrated commitment to the people, and we believe continuity will serve the constituency better,” Yako stated.

Yako added that Kofa’s tenure has been marked by consistent engagement and inclusive representation, noting that stakeholders were convinced that sustaining his leadership would consolidate ongoing development efforts.

Kofa, who once served as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, is widely regarded as an influential lawmaker with deep experience in budgetary matters.

Supporters argue that his position in past assemblies enabled him to attract projects and influence federal allocations to the constituency.

Reacting to the endorsement, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended the stakeholders for what he described as a mature and strategic decision.

“This kind of unity is commendable. It shows that leaders are placing collective interest above personal ambition,” the governor said.

He further urged political actors in the constituency to maintain cohesion as the election season approaches, stressing that unity remains key to electoral success and effective governance.
