Zainab Nasir Ahmad Says FinenewsNG Story Took Her Sarcastic Arewa Summit Post Out of Context

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — Zainab Nasir Ahmad has dismissed reports suggesting that her viral post about the Arewa Media Summit reduced her experience at the event to “rice, chicken and Coke,” insisting that the remark was purely sarcastic and had been taken out of context by FinenewsNG.

Reacting to a report based on her social media post, Ahmad said the publication failed to capture the essence of her participation at the summit, where she served as a panelist and contributed to discussions on advancing development in Northern Nigeria.

Her reaction came after a report by finenewsng.com highlighted her humorous social media post about the summit, a characterization she now says overlooked the substantive conversations on regional development that took place during the event.

“Everyone knows this is one of my sarcastic posts, yet an oversabi journalist still published it,” she wrote.

“They overlooked my earlier message about serving on the panel and the brainstorming session we had on driving development.”

She explained that contrary to the impression created by the report, she did not even eat at the summit because of her demanding schedule.

According to her, she shuttled between the summit venue at Bon Hotel and the Kano Government House to attend two separate engagements that required her presence.

“That summit day, I couldn’t eat anything from morning until late evening, when I returned home,” she said.

“I was moving between Bon Hotel and the Government House because I had conflicting engagements. Both events required my input, and I couldn’t be in two places at once till towards the end of the summit.”

Ahmad further disclosed that the meal distributed at the event was instead given to someone in need. “I gave the food that was shared there to an elderly woman who was hungry and exhausted,” she said.

Expressing frustration over the coverage, she accused some practitioners of failing to uphold professional standards.

“You see all these quack journalists can do better, reason why I said the profession is overrated and has no boundary,” she added
