KANO — Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his confidence in Deputy Governor, His Excellency Murtala Sule Garo, declaring that he has “no regrets” over his choice of deputy while confirming that Garo will remain his running mate in the 2027 governorship election.
The governor made the announcement during a strategic meeting with Federal Political Appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said his decision was informed by Garo’s loyalty, commitment and unwavering dedication to the development of Kano State.
According to the statement since he assumed office as Deputy Governor, Garo has proved to be a dependable partner who has consistently demonstrated competence and a strong sense of responsibility.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” the governor said.
Yusuf noted that the cordial working relationship between both leaders had strengthened his administration’s efforts to deliver meaningful development across the state.
He added that the deputy governor’s contributions have been instrumental to the successes recorded by the government.
The governor also passed a vote of confidence on Garo, saying his performance and commitment to public service had justified the confidence reposed in him.
He said retaining the deputy governor on the 2027 ticket reflected the administration’s resolve to sustain stability, continuity and effective governance.
Governor Yusuf further called on party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and focused as the administration consolidates on its achievements and prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement is expected to put to rest speculation over the governor’s choice of running mate ahead of the next governorship election while signalling the administration’s intention to maintain its current leadership team.
