Yusuf Briefs Tinubu on Dorayi Massacre, Requests Federal Support – DG Media

KANO – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, on Monday evening briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the recent Dorayi massacre and other security challenges confronting the state, seeking urgent federal support to stem the tide of violence and protect lives and property.
The briefing took place during a strategic closed-door meeting between the governor and the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where Yusuf outlined critical security and development priorities of his administration and called for stronger collaboration with the Federal Government.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the meeting focused on the worsening insecurity in parts of Kano State, particularly in some local government areas experiencing rising criminal activities.
Governor Yusuf specifically informed President Tinubu of the tragic killing of a housewife and her children in Dorayi, describing the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable, and stressing the need for decisive federal intervention to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
He emphasized that while the Kano State Government has taken proactive steps to improve security, additional federal support is crucial to strengthen ongoing operations and restore public confidence across affected communities.
The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing conventional security agencies, noting that enhanced cooperation and intelligence sharing with federal security institutions would significantly improve security outcomes.
Yusuf also briefed the president on Kano’s broader development agenda, with particular emphasis on mega infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth and job creation in the state.
He commended President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a critical infrastructure that would open up economic opportunities and improve connectivity within the state.
In response, President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf of the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with Kano State to address security challenges, accelerate key projects, and ensure the state benefits fully from federal programmes and investments.
