Thousands Stage Solidarity Protest For Kano CP

KANO – A show of support unfolded in Kano on Thursday as hundreds of youths staged a solidarity protest in favor of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf called for the removal of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, citing his absence and withdrawal of police personnel during the 65th Independence Day celebrations. Speaking at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, Governor Yusuf described the commissioner’s conduct as “unprofessional” and “disloyal” to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The governor emphasized that security agencies should focus on their duties rather than engaging in partisan politics, stressing that Kano remains peaceful despite the controversy. He urged President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action and relieve CP Bakori of his duties.²
Governor Yusuf’s demand for the commissioner’s removal highlights the growing tension between the state government and the police leadership in Kano. The governor’s comments have sparked a heated debate about the role of security agencies in partisan politics.
In a dramatic turn of events, hundreds of able-bodied youths took to the streets at noon, chanting solidarity songs in support of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
The protesters urged Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to refrain from interfering with the law enforcement officer.
The young men and women carried placards with inscription “CP Kano must stay” “Kano People Love CP” “Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Leave CP alone” .
