TCN Remove Illegal Structures In Kano Right of Way

KANO – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, on Friday said it conducted a decisive operation to demolish illegal structures erected within its Transmission Right of Way (RoW) in Kano Metropolis.

TCN in its verified Facebook account said the Coy had “On August 13, 2025, the exercise was carried out with precision and determination, underscoring TCN’s unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of the national transmission network.”

The Agency failed to mention the number affected during the clearance operation, but explained that the demolition exercise was a necessary step to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power transmission system.

” Under the directive of the Encroachment and Anti-Vandalism Committee, TCN’s team worked tirelessly to identify and remove unauthorized developments along critical power lines ” TCN revealed.

TCN said the operation targeted structures that had sprung up along the Kano-Zaria 330kV line and Duste-Azare 132kV line, particularly in the Dangoro communities.

it stressed that “These power lines are crucial to the nation’s energy infrastructure, and any encroachment or vandalism could have far-reaching consequences for power supply across the region”.

The transmission agency noted that “By taking proactive measures to protect these assets, TCN is not only ensuring the stability of the national grid but also safeguarding the lives and properties of people living in the surrounding communities.”

The demolition exercise sent a strong message to would-be encroachers and vandals that TCN will not tolerate any form of compromise or negligence when it comes to protecting the nation’s transmission infrastructure.
