Security Foils Bandit Attack, Neutralises Two, Recovers 500 Cows in Kano

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —- Security operatives in Kano State have successfully foiled a daring daytime attack by suspected bandits, neutralising two of the assailants and recovering over 500 rustled cattle.

The incident occurred in Tsauri town, Shanono Local Government Area, when the attackers, numbering in the hundreds and riding on about 150 motorcycles, stormed the community in an attempt to rustle livestock.

Confirming the development in a telephone interview, the Chairman of Faruruwa Community Security Committee, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, said the bandits targeted a Fulani herder believed to own more than 2,000 cattle.

“The bandits invaded the area in large numbers and attempted to steal cattle from a Fulani man. They took away many of the animals but were unable to get him,” Bagobiri said.

He explained that the community quickly mobilised and alerted security agencies as well as neighbouring towns, including Goron Dutse, Shanono, and Tsanyawa, to prevent the attackers from escaping.

“I personally contacted the Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who immediately directed a swift response to the situation,” he added.

Bagobiri noted that a joint team of security personnel and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) responded promptly and engaged the bandits as they attempted to flee with the stolen cattle.

According to him, “The security operatives pursued the bandits towards the Katsina axis and within parts of Kano State. In the process, two of them were neutralised and about 500 cattle were successfully recovered.”

He commended the security agencies for their rapid intervention, stating that their efforts prevented what could have been a major loss for the affected community.

“We are extremely pleased with the swift response of the security. Their actions have continued to ensure peace in our communities,” Bagobiri said.
