Patriotic Elders Caution US Military Action Over Alleged Christian Genocide

KANO —– The Patriotic Elders for Peace and Harmony of Nigeria, on Sunday cautioned the United States of America against taking any military actions on Nigeria based on unverifiable allegations of Christians’ massacre.
Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, the President of the Group, who briefed newsmen shortly after its meeting stated the American government is fully aware that over time, the target of killings in Nigeria has no correlation with religion or tribe.
Dr. Bature said “A fact check would clearly show that most of those killed from 1999 to date, 75 percent are Muslims across the country, and places and towns burned down were areas of Muslims.”
He explained that, “looking at the geographical locations of the country, the Northwest areas of Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, and Jigawa are predominantly Muslim areas, and they are the most affected communities where killings and displacement took place.”
Dr. Bature stated that , “The Northeast areas of Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe are also predominantly Muslim areas, and killings there clearly show that largely Muslims suffered losses of lives and properties more than anybody.”
The President of the Group further explained that the North Central areas of Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Benue, and Kwara are indeed mostly Christian predominant places; however, the killings are those of nomadic and farmers, resulting in most cases having each group suffering losses.
“Therefore, it is surprising for the US Government to believe in a false narrative without allowing its beautiful intelligent networking to give them the accurate position of things,” he added.
“We are of the belief that America has another agenda behind the issue of false Christians’ massacre, maybe because the Government of Tinubu aligned itself with the Palestine/Israel two-state solution at the United Nations General Assembly or because President Tinubu tilted towards France and other countries, and they are not happy.”
Dr. AbdulAziz reminded the Government of Donald Trump that over time, Nigeria has played a central role in keeping peace not only in Africa but across the globe, thereby preserving democracy in many African countries.
“Any attack on Nigeria would destabilize several African nations because most of them rely heavily on Nigeria; therefore, we are appealing to Trump to rethink his decision,” he said.
