Only God Can Decide 2027, Says Governor Yusuf
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO  –  Kano State Governor,  Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday said that only God has the ultimate power to determine who governs beyond 2023, insisting that discussions about the 2027 elections are premature and misplaced.
Abba Kabir Yusuf who spoke while presenting hundreds of motorcycles to his social media handlers in Kano, explained that his emergence as governor in 2023 was solely by the will of Allah, not through the influence of individuals or political alignments.
In his words: “It was God who gave me power in 2023, not anybody. I thank and appreciate Him because He alone can decide what happens in 2027.”
He cautioned against excessive focus on future elections, stressing that his position is against the backdrop of uncertainty of life.
“Who knows whether one will even make it to tomorrow, let alone 2027?” the governor asked.
Governor Yusuf said his immediate priority is governance, particularly peace, security, and development in Kano State, rather than political calculations about future elections.
“My major concern today is Kano. Kano comes first. We must get things right, ensure peace and security, and deliver good governance before talking about anything else,” he said.
The governor also emphasized that loyalty should be to Kano State and its people, not to political individuals or factions.
“Nobody is bigger than Kano. Loyalty must be to Kano State first, not to any person,” he stressed.
