Kano Youths Slaughter Muezzin’s Killer, Set Remains Ablaze

KANO  – Uneasy calm now pervades Hotoro Marafa area of Kano metropolis, following the gruesome killing of the muezzin of a local mosque, who was reportedly hacked to death by a suspected hoodlum.
The incident was said to have thrown the community into shock and mourning, as residents struggle to come to terms with the violence.
Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred suddenly, with the victim allegedly ambushed and fatally wounded by the suspect.
The identity of the assailant was not immediately confirmed, but the brutality of the act sparked outrage among residents of the area.
Angered by what they described as a dastardly act, members of the community were said to have descended on the suspect shortly after the killing.
According to local accounts, the suspect was seized by an angry mob before being slaughtered in retaliation.
Further reports claimed that the remains of the suspect were set ablaze, escalating the violence and leaving a trail of destruction in the neighborhood.
The development reportedly heightened tension, prompting residents to withdraw indoors to avoid further unrest.
Some locals alleged that the suspect had long been a threat to peace in the area, accusing him of repeated acts of intimidation and criminal behavior prior to the incident. They claimed that earlier warnings about his activities were ignored, allowing the situation to fester.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, security presence in the area remained minimal as of the time of reporting. Residents expressed concern over the absence of immediate official intervention to restore calm and prevent reprisals.
Efforts to obtain comments from the police proved unsuccessful, as authorities remained silent on the development.
