Gwarzo: Kano Will Remember Adamu Getso for Generations

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Kano State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has mourned the death of veteran broadcaster and former Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso, describing him as a media icon whose contributions to the development of Kano State would never be forgotten.

Alhaji Getso died on Saturday in his hometown of Getso, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, drawing tributes from political leaders, media practitioners, and members of the public.

In a condolence message issued through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo said the late broadcaster devoted much of his life to public service through the media sector, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, integrity, and dedication.

“His death is a great loss not only to his family and the media community but also to Kano State as a whole,” Gwarzo said.

“His invaluable contributions to the growth of broadcasting and public enlightenment will continue to inspire future generations.”

The NDC governorship candidate noted that Getso distinguished himself during his career in public broadcasting, serving as Managing Director of both ARTV and Radio Kano, where he played key roles in promoting effective communication and public awareness.

According to Gwarzo, the deceased was a seasoned media professional whose impact on the state’s broadcasting industry would remain visible for many years. He added that Kano would continue to remember him for his commitment to excellence and service to humanity.

He extended his condolences to the family of the late broadcaster, the people of Getso town, and the entire media fraternity in Kano State over what he described as an irreparable loss.

Gwarzo also prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and provide his loved ones with the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

“Kano will remember Adamu Getso for generations because of the values he represented and the legacy he left behind,” he said.
