By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO   – Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced plans to immortalise two members of the Kano State House of Assembly who passed away while in active service to the state.
A statement by Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director General Media, that was made available to newsmen on Thursday, said Yusuf announced the gesture during the 36th State Executive Council meeting.
The DG Media explained that the announcement coincided with the formal presentation of the 2026 Budget Estimate Document to the governor for executive assent by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibril Falgore.
The governor expressed his deepest condolences to the leadership of the State Assembly, the families of the deceased lawmakers, and the people of Kano State over the loss of Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo (NNPP-Ungogo), Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji (NNPP-Municipal), Chairman, House Committee on Hajj.
Governor Yusuf particularly noted that Hon. Sa’adu’s final contribution to the state was his tireless effort in concluding the 2026 Budget Estimate, ensuring its readiness for legislative passage.
“The dedication and commitment these two legislators demonstrated towards the development of Kano State cannot be overstated,” the governor said.
A special prayer session was held during the council meeting for the repose of the souls of the departed lawmakers. The prayers were led by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal, and the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Haruna Ali Makoda.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the bereaved families and preserving the legislative legacies of the late lawmakers through the effective implementation of the 2026 budget.
