Emir Sanusi Orders Shutdown of Hotel in Kano

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has ordered the immediate closure of Stephrica Guest Palace Hotel located in Kureken Sani, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

The directive was issued through the Kano Emirate Council under the leadership of the Galadiman Kano, Aliyu Ibrahim Matawalle, following complaints submitted by residents of the area over alleged activities at the facility.

The Emirate Council said the decision followed a review of petitions brought before it by members of the community, who raised concerns about the operations of the hotel.

According to the council, the closure was part of efforts to address community concerns and ensure peace and order in the area.

“The decision was taken after careful consideration of complaints from the residents of Kureken Sani,” a source within the Emirate Council said.

As part of the directive, the owner of the hotel was also instructed to convert the property into either a school or a hospital, in order to serve the wider interest of the community.

The Emirate Council emphasized that such conversion would provide lasting benefit to residents, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare delivery.

Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Kureken Sani Community Development Association, Malam Muhammad Sabi’u Yahaya, commended the Emirate for what he described as a timely intervention.

He said the community had earlier raised concerns over alleged suspicious movements involving minors in and out of the facility, which prompted their petition to the Emirate.

“We are grateful to the Emirate Council for listening to our complaints and taking appropriate action after due investigation,” he said.

The closure has since sparked discussions within the community as residents await further steps regarding the implementation of the Emirate’s directive.
