KANO – A senior aide to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday said that those who betrayed the trust of the people of Kano would soon be publicly identified soon.
Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, the Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to the Governor who dropped the bombshell on his verified Facebook page, explained that ongoing developments would bring clarity to long-standing controversies in the state.
Hotoro said “Very soon, the people of Kano will be able to distinguish those who betrayed them from those who stood firm to protect their interests”.
The Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to the Governor in the viral post linked past scandals to the current challenges facing Kano, citing cases that he said ‘weakened public trust’.
“Issues like the Novemed case and mismanagement in the Foreign Scholarship program are among the events that laid the foundation for the problems we are witnessing today,” he stated.
He also referenced alleged fraudulent land transactions, claiming that members of the public were deceived under the guise of legitimate deals. “Many people were defrauded in the name of land sales, and such actions further eroded confidence in leadership,” Hotoro alleged.
In addition, Hotoro criticized the handling of contracts for alum and other chemicals used in water treatment, as well as the procurement of water treatment plant machinery.
“There were clear lapses and mismanagement in processes meant to serve the public, and these issues cannot be ignored,” he said.
The governor’s aide insisted that accountability is inevitable. “The truth will soon separate those who betrayed Kano from those who refused to do so, and the people will judge accordingly,” Hotoro added.
He further argued that these controversies were not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern that occurred during a period of under the former party leadership. “These are not just past mistakes; they are the foundation of today’s challenges in Kano,” he said.
Hotoro therefore urged Kano residents to remain patient, stressing that “Time will reveal the betrayers and the loyalists. The people of Kano will have clarity, and justice will follow.”
