KANO – The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has paid ₦7 million
outstanding entitlement due to the
immediate past Chairman.
The intervention by Senator Barau Jibrin, was sequel to alleged withheld payment by the NNPP led administration in the state on the grounds that he was perceived to be politically opposed to the administration.
The cheque was presented to Alfindiki in Abuja, marking the resolution of an issue that had lingered for months.
Speaking during the presentation, Senator Barau commended Alfindiki for his consistency, courage and commitment to truth, noting that standing by one’s principles often comes with challenges.
Senator Barau stressed that political differences should never be used as justification to deny any individual their lawful entitlement, adding that justice, fairness and respect for rights must remain central to governance.
In his response, Comrade Faizu Alfindiki expressed appreciation to Senator Barau for ensuring that his matter was resolved. He stated that the entitlement was withheld by the Kano NNPP government solely because of allegations that he was critical of the administration, and not due to any legal or contractual violation.
Alfindiki described the development as a reaffirmation of his belief that truth and perseverance eventually prevail, while calling on public office holders to desist from using state power to marginalise individuals over political disagreements.
The development has generated reactions within political circles in Kano, with observers describing the intervention as a reminder that entitlements are rights and should not be politicised, regardless of party affiliation or personal views.
