Alfindiki Tells Gov. Yusuf To Apologize Over Misleading NECO Celebration

KANO – A senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Faizu Alfindiki, on Friday called on Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf to apologize to Nigerians over misleading NECO  celebration.
Alfindiki said the episode underscores challenges of ensuring accuracy in celebratory public declarations, highlighting governmental accountability in Nigeria’s informational landscape.
A statement by the prominent opposition figure in Kano said, “a recent celebration by Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration in recognition of purported exceptional performance of Kano State in the National Examination Council (NECO) 2025 results spotlights Kano in a bad lights.”
The APC chieftain said “The information leading to this celebration has come under scrutiny as results show that the widely publicized celebration of supposed Kano outstanding performance in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) results was not only a ruse, but a big gaffe.
He stressed that “This embarrassing gaffe pointed to the fact the that the Kano number one citizen is yet to grasp the art of governance in a digital era where simple fact checks will have save the state this huge embarrassment. “
The statement read in parts : “I want to advise on heightened diligence in verifying data before public acknowledgments, seeking to align actions with factual merit and restore confidence. “
“I therefore suggest an internal review to identify how the misinformation occurred and prevent future occurrences, because transparency and accuracy should  remain core values in governance. “
“Finally, I urged Abba Kabir Yusuf administration to take took responsibility for the oversight, and tender unreserved apologies to the students, schools, and people of Kano State and Nigerians that  have been affected by this gaffe,”
