BREAKING: Senator Hanga Strips Office of Kwankwasiyya, NDC Identity

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — Fresh political intrigue has enveloped Kano after photographs associated with the Kwankwasiyya Movement and symbols of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were removed from the office of the Senator representing Kano Central, Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga.

The changes, observed on Wednesday, have sparked speculation over the senator’s political future amid ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources familiar with the development confirmed that the portraits and party insignia previously displayed in the office had been taken down. However, no official explanation has been offered for the move.

“The photographs and party symbols are no longer in the office,” a source familiar with the development said. “We cannot, however, comment on the reason behind the decision.”

Senator Hanga has yet to issue a statement, while efforts to reach him and his aides for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The development comes against the backdrop of increasing political realignments in Kano.

Hanga has long been regarded as one of the prominent figures in the Kwankwasiyya movement and has remained a close ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over the years.

The removal of the movement’s images and NDC branding from his office is expected to fuel further speculation about his next political move, although there is no official indication that the action is linked to a change in political affiliation.
