Kwankwaso: Why Kano Will Reward Tinubu with Massive Votes in 2027

KANO — Executive Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure overwhelming support from Kano voters in the 2027 general election.
Kwankwaso hinged his confidence on the scale of federal projects currently underway in Kano state and across 6 othet states in Northern Nigeria.
The APC chieftain said the Tinubu administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of the North through strategic investments in roads, railways, agriculture, healthcare, energy, and regional development initiatives.
In a statement that was madeavailable to newsmen in Kano on Saturday, he argued that residents of Kano and other Northern states have begun to witness the impact of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda through visible infrastructure projects and economic interventions.
According to him, one of the flagship projects is the Kano–Kongolom Road, a major dual carriageway designed to strengthen connectivity between Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states while boosting commercial activities across the region.
He also highlighted the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway, describing it as a critical transport corridor that will improve safety, ease movement, and facilitate trade.
Kwankwaso further pointed to the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project, saying the massive economic corridor would enhance national integration and unlock new opportunities for businesses across Northern Nigeria.
The finance executive noted that work is progressing steadily on the Kano Eastern Bypass, which is expected to divert heavy-duty traffic from the city centre and improve transportation within the state.
He equally cited the Kano–Maradi Rail Line as a transformative project capable of boosting regional commerce and strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
On energy development, Kwankwaso said the Ajaokuta–Abuja–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project would support industrial growth and improve power supply when fully completed.
He added that the Federal Government’s intervention in irrigation, dam rehabilitation, and ecological projects, including the Jakara–Gogau–Zungeru initiative, reflects its determination to address environmental and agricultural challenges facing Kano.
Kwankwaso further stressed that the investments in healthcare, noting that federal authorities have continued to upgrade teaching hospitals and revitalize primary healthcare centres across the region.
He described the establishment of the North-West Development Commission and the siting of its headquarters in Kano as further evidence of the administration’s commitment to the area’s long-term growth.
“These projects are not mere promises on paper. They are visible projects that people can see and assess for themselves,” he said.
Kwankwaso maintained that the level of federal presence in Kano would influence voter sentiment in future elections.
He said, “President Tinubu should sleep with both eyes closed because, as far as his re-election bid is concerned, it is a done deal. Kano and the North in general will reward him with massive votes because of the development projects being executed across the region.”
