2027: Doguwa Gains Momentum as Rival Boycotts Peace Talks

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The political camp of the member representing Doguwa/Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, appears to be gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections following the absence of rival House of Representatives aspirant, Salisu Yusha’u, from an important APC reconciliation meeting in Kano.

The reconciliation meeting was organised by a powerful committee set up by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to address grievances among party aspirants and stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen unity within the APC ahead of the next election cycle.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa with Professor Nura Yaro D-Tofa serving as Secretary, invited stakeholders and aspirants from Doguwa/Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency to discussions held at the Kano State Government House.

However, while Hon. Doguwa attended and participated in the meeting, Salisu Yusha’u and his wife, the Chairperson of Tudun-Wada Local Government and Kano State ALGON Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yusha’u, were absent despite reportedly receiving invitations from the committee.

Confirming the development, the Secretary of the committee, Professor Nura Yaro D-Tofa, alongside committee member Hon. Mutari Ishaq Yakasai, said both Salisu Yusha’u and Hajiya Sa’adatu failed to honour the invitation.

“The reconciliation process is ongoing and we have continued to engage aspirants and stakeholders across several constituencies,” Professor Yaro said.

He explained that the committee had already covered more than seven federal constituencies and 13 state assembly constituencies across Kano State as part of efforts to foster unity within the party.

However, there are growing concern by constituents

that skipping the peace talks could send the wrong political signal at a time Governor Yusuf has directed all aspirants to return to their constituencies, consult widely, and support consensus-building within the party.

The reconciliation committee, however, maintained that it remains committed to ensuring peace, cooperation, and collective success for the APC as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
