KANO —- Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on Wednesday described his nomination as Deputy Governor of Kano State as a call to service rather than personal recognition.
Garo made the remark shortly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf forwarded his name to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
In a statement, Garo expressed deep appreciation to the governor, saying, “I extend my special gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kano State… for the confidence he has shown in me by forwarding my name… for screening and confirmation as the Deputy Governor of Kano State.”
He noted that the gesture was one he would not take lightly, adding, “Indeed, this is something I will never forget, as it is a great honor and recognition.”
Garo, however, stressed that the nomination goes beyond personal honor. “This step taken by His Excellency is not just an honor to me alone; rather, it is a great call to responsibility and service to the good people of Kano State,” he said.
The nominee also acknowledged the support he has received from party leaders, stakeholders, and residents across the state. “I also extend my sincere appreciation… for their love, prayers, support, and encouragement at all times. Your support is highly significant in strengthening our resolve and boosting our morale,” he stated.
Calling for unity within the party, Garo urged members, including those who aspired for the position, to work together. “I would like to… appeal to all party leaders and members… to unite in love and brotherhood, and work together for the progress of Kano State,” he said.
He further pledged loyalty and commitment to the administration’s development agenda. “I assure you that I will continue to dedicate myself, remain loyal, and work diligently to strengthen unity and support the policies and development programmes initiated by His Excellency,” Garo added.
Looking ahead, he reaffirmed his readiness to contribute meaningfully to governance in the state. “By the grace of God, I will do everything possible… to ensure that the Governor successfully fulfills the leadership responsibility entrusted to him, and to further advance the development of Kano State,” he said.
