Kano Targets Retired Consultants to Strengthen Health Services

KANO – The Kano State Hospitals Management Board, on Wednesday announced plans to
engage retired consultant doctors and specialist nurses on contract basis to strengthen health care delivery across the state.
According to the Board, the move is designed to leverage the experience and expertise of seasoned medical professionals to address critical gaps in specialist care within public health facilities.
Public Relations Officer of the Board, Samira Suleiman, in a statement that was made available to newsmen in Kano, said the initiative is open to qualified retired professionals willing to return to service in selected medical and nursing specialties.
“The Board hereby invites applications from retired consultant doctors and specialist nurses who are willing to render their expertise in support of healthcare service delivery across the state,” Suleiman stated.
She explained that the engagement will cover key areas including perioperative nursing, psychiatric nursing, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) services, theatre nursing, as well as other relevant medical specialties.
Suleiman added that applicants are required to obtain application forms from the headquarters of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board and complete the submission process through the Director of Medical Services.
“The completed forms should be filled accurately and submitted to the Director of Medical Services at the Board’s headquarters,” she said.
The Board noted that the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare system by improving service delivery, particularly in specialist units where manpower shortages have been identified.
It urged interested retired medical professionals to apply immediately, describing the programme as a timely intervention to enhance the quality of healthcare services across Kano State hospitals.
