Gambo Leads Push Over Delayed NELFUND Payments at FU Dutsin-Ma

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —– The Secretary-General of the Students’ Government Union (SUG) at Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Comrade Muhammad Bello Gambo, has led efforts to address the prolonged delay in NELFUND payments affecting students of the institution.

Gambo spearheaded a delegation to the headquarters of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund in Abuja, where they formally lodged a complaint over the five-month delay in the disbursement of students’ upkeep allowances.

The delegation included the Speaker of the Student Parliament, Rt. Hon. Seri Peter, and the Financial Secretary, Comrade Usman El-Bichi. They engaged officials of the fund on the hardship students are currently facing due to the unpaid allowances.

Addressing the issue, NELFUND officials assured the delegation that the matter would be handled promptly and that all outstanding payments would be resolved as soon as possible.

The intervention by the SUG leadership has drawn commendations from students across the university, as well as members of the institution’s governing council.

Some students described the move as unprecedented, noting that it reflects strong commitment to student welfare and effective representation by the SUG leadership.
