Prof Kurfi hailed the leadership of the chapel for creating a platform that fosters unity and professional reflection among journalists.
The university don stressed the need for synergy between the NUJ, practising journalists, and the Faculty of Communication at BUK, noting that such collaboration would improve the training and retraining of both professionals and students.
According to him, “there is a need to build a strong relationship between the academia and the media industry to ensure that journalists are equipped with current knowledge and ethical standards.”
Prof. Kurfi added that his faculty would consider introducing similar initiatives to strengthen engagement with media practitioners and promote continuous learning.
