KANO – Former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has continued to demonstrate his national relevance through strategic faith-based initiatives, as he on Tuesday led a high-profile inspection visit to a Grand Mosque and Islamic Centre under construction in Abuja.
The visit took place in the Federal Capital Territory and featured notable personalities, including the renowned Islamic scholar and Head of the Qadiriyya Order in Africa, Sheikh Kariballah Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara, as well as the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Hon. Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, NIM.
The delegation toured the mosque and Islamic centre to assess the level of work done and receive detailed briefings on the progress of the project. The facility, described as one of the largest faith-based developments spearheaded by Ganduje, is expected to serve as a hub for worship, Islamic education, and moral development.
According to sources at the site, the project is part of Ganduje’s broader vision to strengthen religious institutions and promote values-driven education across Nigeria, cutting across ethnic, regional, and political divides.
Observers note that the initiative reflects how Ganduje has continued to wield influence beyond partisan politics, leveraging faith-based development as a platform for national engagement and social impact.
During the visit, Sheikh Kariballah Kabara expressed satisfaction with the scale and intent of the project, commending Ganduje for what he described as sustained service to Islam and humanity. He also offered special prayers for the former governor, asking for divine reward and continued success in his endeavors.
The presence of senior government officials and respected religious leaders at the inspection underscored Ganduje’s enduring networks within both political and religious circles, reinforcing perceptions of his continued relevance on the national stage.
As construction progresses, the Grand Mosque and Islamic Centre is expected to become a landmark institution in Abuja, further cementing Ganduje’s post-office legacy as a political leader increasingly defined by philanthropy, religious development, and nation-building initiatives.
