Viral Shame: Actress Arrested After Using Naira to Clean Nose
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO  – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has acted on viral social media footage by arresting Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over an alleged act of naira mutilation.

The arrest was carried out by the Kano Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a video showing the actress allegedly abusing the national currency gained widespread attention online.
In the viral clip, Inuwa was seen conspicuously using naira notes to clean mucus from her nose, an act that violates provisions of Nigerian law prohibiting the abuse and defacement of the currency.
Kano EFCC in a statement said the circulation of the footage triggered immediate action by the Commission, which traced the actress and invited her for questioning before effecting her arrest.
The Commission noted that such acts, commonly referred to as naira mutilation, include spraying, defacing, or using the currency in a manner that disrespects its integrity.
Following her arrest, Inuwa was taken into custody and is currently being held at the EFCC’s detention facility in Kano while investigations continue.
The EFCC said the actress will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, reaffirming its commitment to enforcing laws that protect the sanctity of the naira.
