2027: ‘It Felt Like Paradise’ — Elderly Woman Celebrates Shekarau’s Senate Bid

KANO — An elderly woman from Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State has expressed overwhelming joy over the emergence of former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
The woman, popularly known as Baba Ramma, made the remark during a solidarity visit by women supporters to Hajiya Halima Ibrahim Shekarau, wife of the former governor, at her residence in Kano.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Baba Ramma said news of Shekarau’s emergence brought her immense happiness, describing the moment as one of the most memorable in her life.
“The day I heard that Malam Ibrahim Shekarau had been given the ticket, I felt like I was in Paradise. My joy was beyond words because I believe he is the right person to represent Kano Central,” she said.
According to her, Shekarau’s record of public service and commitment to the welfare of ordinary people have continued to earn him the admiration and loyalty of many supporters across the zone.
The visit formed part of a series of engagements by women groups from different local government areas of Kano Central who have been visiting Hajiya Halima Shekarau to declare their support for the APC candidate.
During the gathering, Hajiya Halima, popularly known as Garkuwar Nakasassu, welcomed the women and thanked them for their commitment to the party and its candidates ahead of the next general election.
She also honoured Baba Ramma by presenting her with a Tinubu Renewed Hope campaign outfit symbolising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.
The women later pledged to mobilise support across their communities and work towards securing victory for the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
