KANO — Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commenced preparations for the 2027 governorship election by ordering a review of his 2023 campaign manifesto, “My Commitment for Kano”, to assess the implementation of its promises and lay the foundation for a second-term policy agenda.
To drive the process, the governor on Friday inaugurated a 17-member committee tasked with evaluating the implementation of the 2023 blueprint, identifying outstanding commitments, and drafting Blueprint 2.0 to guide the administration’s vision for the 2027–2031 period.
The inauguration of the committee marks the first major step by the Yusuf administration toward shaping its policy agenda ahead of the 2027 governorship election, while also providing an opportunity to evaluate the delivery of promises contained in its 2023 campaign manifesto.
In a statement by the Governor’s Director General, Media and Publicity, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the committee will operate under the direct supervision of Governor Yusuf and his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, with Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba serving as chairman and the Executive Chairman of the Strategic Governance and Policy Coordination Office, Dr. Yusuf Ya’u Gambo, as secretary.
“The committee is mandated to review the implementation of the 2023 blueprint, My Commitment for Kano, identify areas yet to be fully implemented and incorporate them into Blueprint 2.0,” the statement said.
It added that the committee would “articulate Governor Yusuf’s priorities and strategic vision for a second term from 2027 to 2031.”
The statement further said the committee would engage stakeholders from both state and non-state sectors to generate innovative ideas and policy recommendations capable of producing “a comprehensive, inclusive and people-driven blueprint” for the state’s continued development.
According to the government, the new blueprint is expected to consolidate the achievements of the present administration while providing a roadmap for accelerated development if Governor Yusuf secures a second term in office.
The committee comprises senior government officials, policy advisers, heads of key state agencies, academics, local government administrators and other professionals drawn from strategic sectors of the state’s economy and public service.
