Yusuf Approves ₦87m Lifeline for Kano Teaching Hospital

KANO —-KANO — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the release of ₦87.435 million for the re-accreditation of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.

The approval was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Hajiya Samira Suleiman.

According to the statement, the intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to revitalizing the health sector and improving access to quality healthcare services across the state.

“The approval is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity in specialist training, maternal and child healthcare services, as well as improve professional standards in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology,” the statement said.

The government noted that the re-accreditation effort would strengthen the hospital’s role in producing highly trained medical professionals while improving care for women and children in Kano and neighbouring states.

The statement further described the approval as part of Governor Yusuf’s broader healthcare reform agenda aimed at repositioning Kano as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery and medical education in Nigeria.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has continued to distinguish himself as a compassionate and visionary leader whose administration prioritizes the wellbeing of citizens through strategic investments in critical sectors, especially health,” Suleiman stated.

The Kano State Government also reassured residents of its continued support for health institutions and healthcare professionals, stressing that investments in medical infrastructure and training would remain a top priority of the administration.
